In Memory of Simba

This page was created to honor the life of Simba, a.k.a. Papa kitty. He was born in May, 2000. When we first got him at about six weeks old, he was so flea ridden he barely had any fir. With some TLC, he grew into a gorgeous cat. Simba was diagnosed as Feline Leukemia positive in July, 2000. He loved to snuggle with our son when he was a little baby, and then whenever any new pets came into the home he would adopt them as his own and take care of them. He was very loving and affectionate. Everyone who came to our house always left with him being their favorite. We first noticed he was ill March 5, 2002. He was breathing noticably heavy. He was immediately rushed to the vet. The vet came up with answer that fluid was built up in his chest, and that some medication would help clear it. On Thursday, March 14th, he went back in for his follow-up. A more experienced vet saw him, and diagnosed a massive chest tumor. On his x-ray his heart was rounded, and his liver was swollen, and the vet said that his chest was as hard as a rock, meaning it was more than fluid. Tests on fluid drawn from his chest confirmed cancer. We were to take Simba home to say goodbye, and then bring him back when he started really suffering to put him to sleep. He was spoiled and told many times how much he was loved and was such a good kitty. Simba died in the car on the way back to the vet at 9:54 p.m. March 15, 2002. He was among those who he loved and who loved him most. He will be greatly missed.
